FreeMax Gemm 25W Kit Review
Once again it seems as though disposable tanks are making headway into the vaping market, this time in the pod mods! Now whether these devices are overpowered pod kits or underpowered mods I’ll leave for you to decide. Personally I really loved the idea of pod mods for traveling as a heavy vaper, you can throw a bit of salt nic in there and have plenty of juice to last you a whole day on the go. Not to mention the expanded internal batteries in pod mods mean you don’t have to worry about running out of juice while you’re on the go.Â
But I digress, we’re here to talk about the brand new FreeMax Gemm 25W, the latest in FreeMax’s lineup of Gemm vapes. Let’s take a look at what sets this device apart from the rest.Â
The Looks
The first thing you’re going to notice when you get your hands on the Gemm 25W is the size of it, coming in at just under 5 inches tall. But, while the compact size is impressive the most astounding feature of this device is its minuscule weight. When I first picked up the Gemm I thought it was a removable battery device because I’ve never felt a device with an internal battery be as light as the Gemm 25W is. Imagine my surprise when I looked up the specs and found out it comes with a 1300mAh built-in battery!
I will say, the colors and the plastic finish do look somewhat cheap but I think that’s one of the drawbacks you have to live with for its very affordable price tag. Actually, you might not even notice, the molds they’re using are very well made and the chassis of the device is as solid as anything. Interestingly enough it has a backlit cutout display instead of an LED or OLED screen, again, they seemed to have hidden the cost savings in a rather clever way with this throwback display.
The tank itself comes in the same see-through plastic design that we’ve seen in the full-sized Gemm disposable tanks. I have to say, while I definitely feel a bit strange using a non-glass tank I have had excellent luck with the flavor production on these tanks.Â
How it Works
As far as functionality goes I have to say I’m fairly impressed with the Gemm 25W. I’m usually not a fan of mini-tank vape mods, mostly because they’re all MTL focused. But Freemax knew what they were doing with the Gemm 25W because it comes as standard with both 1.0Ω MTL and 0.5Ω DTL disposable tanks. I had some burnt taste issues with the highest pre-set wattage but once I stepped the power down to medium (blue setting) it was nothing but smooth sailing.Â
The fully articulating airflow control is a nice touch on a disposable tank as well, it’s a good feature to have for vapers who enjoy a more restricted cloud flavor. The internal 1300mAh battery does a fantastic job of providing all-day vaping power, I had no issues using the Gemm 25W as my primary device during testing. Not to mention the lightweight aspect of the device, the Gemm 25W weighs so little it’s easy to forget you’re even carrying it.Â
The Verdict
If you’re looking for a relatively inexpensive mod which lends itself well to traveling I think you’d be hard-pressed to beat the Gemm 25W. While it may not be as compact as the pod devices it definitely makes up for that with its long-lasting battery power. The flavor production is nothing to scoff at either, I’d put the 0.5Ω mesh coil on par with most of the full-sized mesh sub-ohm tanks on the market!
